E911 Business Compliance Study Discussion Paper

January 21st, 2010. – By: Bill MacKay

Knowing where an emergency 911 call originates is crucial to effective emergency response. When an employee dials 911 within a facility, the information that the phone system passes to a 911 answering point frequently contains only the billing address of the facility and NOT the exact location (e.g., building TV3 room 5124 ) of where the call originated.

Organizations today require solutions to protect all employees and visitors by delivering exact information on the location of a 911 victim caller. In addition, these organizations need to take advantage of their solutions to alert on-site security departments. In an emergency, how will emergency services locate a 911 victim caller in your sites? Now the USA: by state is changing the rules to demand compliance by organizations such as yours!

E911 Business Legislation is currently in place in many states, including the following: Alaska, Arkanansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsilvania, Texas, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.
